  3. Georgette: No Lightweight Folk & Jazz Ensemble

Georgette (Austin, TX) [Tuesday, March 13, 2:40pm]

The band’s name implies a fabric of lightweight sheerness, but the sound of Austin indie ensemble Georgette brings a weighted songwriting and musicianship tapestry of folk, jazz, and popular music to the stage and studio. Formed when singer/songwriter Natasha Dahanayake met local musicians Jesse Chan and Ellen Murray, Georgette soon included Catie Johnson, and a few other talented supporting musicians featured in live performances and recordings.

Before they grace Bernadette’s with a performance at Indie Radio Rocks The World 2 on Tuesday, March 13 (2:40pm), listen to Georgette live at West By West Campus, Saturday, February 25, Eden House stage, 9pm.

  4. Darwin’s Finches Fly Freely In Austin Again

Darwin’s Finches (Houston, TX) [Wednesday, March 14, 2:40pm]

The Houston and Galveston, Texas based “gonzo” garage rockers flock to Austin during SXSW again for an Indie Radio Rocks The World performance, and we couldn’t be more pleased. The seemingly slacker/effortless band’s Texas psychedelic and surf rock influences are evident, but the band takes a slyly experimental, smart rock approach to songwriting that makes them a Houston indie music treasure.

Updates with news of their other shows in March will be posted soon.

  5. Dudes Die (Austin, TX) [Wednesday, March 14, 1:20pm]
Dudes Die Bring ‘Coloratura’ To Austin’s Indie Rock
Celebrating an aptly named full length album, Coloratura, Austin based Dudes Die is discovering a growing fan base and critical recognition for their emotive melodic and rhythmic approach to rock music. Dudes Die exude both the joy of garage rock jamming and the spirituality of psychedelic grooving.

  7. ➞ Bloody Beach shares international 'pirate radio' treasures @ SXSW

Bloody Beach (Bergen, Norway) [Wednesday, March 14, 12:40pm]

Where to begin with Bloody Beach?… Maybe with their international appeal.

“The music of Bloody Beach is a conglomerate of musical styles from around the world, but always with a firm foothold in energetic indie rock. Everyone from Turkish DJs to Scandinavian indie kids has been blown away by their live performances. Danceable songs fronted by a great front man, which have the power to turn any audience into a smiling, dancing crowd.”

The eclectic indie band from Norway’s appeal is evident in their “Gonzo” style of music as performers, and as music lovers with a penchant for compiling and sharing favorite tunes from around the world (see Bloody Beach Pirate Radio IV).

Other Bloody Beach performances during SXSW TBA soon, but don’t miss their performance @ Bernadette’s Wednesday afternoon.
